Can I manually add in contestants to my contest?

Yes.

Currently, we don't have a bulk import for contestants, but there is a way to do it.

You'll have to enter your own contest and use your customer's email address and sign them up that way. Once you sign up your customer, they will get a notification which they would then have to confirm on their end.
